Headmaster Search

The Lyceum is seeking an outstanding headmaster to lead the school beginning in June 2009. After six years, founding headmaster, Mark Langley, is returning to New England with his family. We seek inspirational leadership to continue the growth of The Lyceum and to guide the school in the fulfillment of its mission.

Located in a quaint former church in Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood, The Lyceum has grown to an enrollment of 41 students, on the way to reaching an ideal student body of 75. Students receive a classical Catholic education using a Great Books approach to the classical Trivium/Quadrivium curriculum. Small classes led by our tutors in seminar discussions allow each student to be heard and to be held accountable for their work. Our goal is to produce graduates who have the academic ability to excel in college, the intellectual depth and character to respond creatively to new challenges our world presents, and who are the bearers and guardians of a culture of life.

Our Mission

The Lyceum is a coeducational, college preparatory school dedicated to providing a classical Catholic education to students in grades seven through twelve.

We offer our students:

  • High academic standards
--Comparable to the most prestigious private schools
  • Timeless and universal ideas
--A one-on-one encounter with the greatest mminds
  • Catholic faith and culture
    --Intellectual knowledge and lived faith

The Role of the Headmaster

The Headmaster creates an atmosphere of authentic learning and inspires a search for wisdom that encourages each student to be fully engaged in his own education.

The Headmaster cultivates a family-like environment, models an orthodox Catholic piety, oversees the curriculum and tutors, teaches a full schedule of classes, maintains communication among the students, parents and tutors and manages the operations of the school.
